Slammed- Colleen Hoover

Summary: Layken is forced to be the rock for her mother and younger brother after her father unexpectedly passed away. She tries to stay strong for her mom and brother but she is starting to lose hope. Layken decides to move across the country and soon meets her neighbor, Will, who has a passion for slams. Just after meeting they form a strong connection that leaves Layken with a sense of hope she's been missing. Shortly after their first date they get slammed with shocking news that puts a sudden halt to their new relationship. Their daily interactions become emotionally painful as they're having a hard time finding a balance between the feelings that pulled them together in the first place and the revelation that tears them apart. Poetry is the only way they are able to speak the truth that is in their hearts.

I have mixed feelings after reading this book. At times I thought it was very good, but I also thought it was missing something at some points. This book isn't really like any of her others ones, it follows a teenage love story, which I think is why it was hard to get into it. It didn't seem as mature as all her other books do.  I did like how creative the storyline was, however this wasn't my favorite book that I've read from Colleen Hoover.
